Supporting grieving individuals is a fundamental aspect of mental health practice across all specialties. This professional development opportunity addresses this reality, offering clinicians a chance to expand their professional repertoire. By exploring contemporary grief theory, clinicians will gain a level of confidence to guide adults who are grieving through their grief experiences with greater understanding and skill.
Presentation Description:
This program provides mental health professionals with an opportunity to develop a foundational understanding of contemporary grief theory and practice when working with bereaved adults. Through this learning opportunity, attendees will develop the skills to:
-
- Use contemporary grief theories as a basis for assessment and treatment goals.
- Integrate various therapeutic interventions.
- Tailor their approach to meet the unique needs of each bereaved client.
- Confidently provide grief support to bereaved adults.
This opportunity is designed for mental health professionals working with bereaved individuals. Professional Development Opportunities for Schools, Groups, and Organizations
Throughout the year, Peter’s Place offers continuing education opportunities and trainings for professionals. Regardless of specialty, most therapists, counselors, and mental health professionals come in to contact with topics or individuals in the space of grief and loss. Despite this, many graduate and training programs do not adequately prepare clinicians to address these themes and dominant culture does not encourage open communication about death and dying. This series was created to provide educational and discussion opportunities on issues related to illness, death, dying and bereavement for helping professionals.
